What if Civ4 supported webcams?

The idea does not seem outrageous to me: Webcams (and conferencing) are now common mainstream technologies, and the game certainly uses leaderheads.

Why would it have to support them? It's not like it is preventing you from using these technologies. If I were them I would not spend a dime developing the technology for it when there is cheap commercially available solutions out there.

Did anybody use the voice chat that was built into Civ3? I only heard someone actaully use it when I was testing whether or not it worked during the beta.

I don't really care, but it might be cool if they had your real head as the leaderhead.

And right he is... I don't care... What would be cool would having one male, one female leaderhead for each civ... I would play the males of course, but for the feel of it it would be good.. Unnecessary feature. Firaxis is well advised to spend time on more important construction sites ;)

There's voice chat?

I suppose it doesn't matter, since I only played PBEM games anyway, though.

Who said they have to develop anything? There's probably a Microsoft DirectSomething that they can plug straight into their apps for video conferencing.

Third party solutions (such as those bundled with IM software) does not work very well with full-screen video games because of the window getting in the way and no taskbar.

If the hypothetical scenario were true, I would have to dress up for each era :crazyeye:

I'll be down the antique shops sourcing some industrial age clothes &c

Used it all the time. Best way to taunt your opponents.
