I have a leader, but it won't make an army!

Forgive me for sound absolutly stupid, but I'm having a problem. I have a great leader, but I can't figure out how to create an army with him. I have units stacked on top of him, but it won't work. To I have to be in my own territory for it to be created?

Yes, you have to be in a city.

Your leader has to go in a city, then a button will appear labeled "Create an army". Once your army is created, THEN you can load units inside by stacking htem on top of the army and pressing L

Also note, you can have an army for every 4 cities you have in your empire. 3 cities only means no army.

the brick wall is hurry city improvements.. the button for army is kinda 5 or so vertical sticks (maybe it is supposed to be a fort or soemthing)

I think the icon is supposed to be five men standing in parade ground formation, hence an army.

I always thought it was a stylized version of the flag the Ancient Era army carries.

Exactly. Every army in the game requires 4 cities. So for two armies you need 8 cities, etc...
