i have video problem i think

hey guys, i just installed civ4 onto my computer and it lookd like everything installed ok. its just that when i try to play the game. as the bar loads up, like it gets 3/4 of the way there then it starts giving me errors and turns my screen into kinda red colors everywhere. i think its a video problem but it appears that i have all the right video stuff for my computer. is there anyone out there that can help me out please? i just bought this game from the store and i reallllllllllllllly wanna start playin. thanks
