Ive just killed the red dragon, was his name Acheron?, I don't remember.

He got my Alkazan the assassin before he died... So it was at a very high price, especially considering that Alkazan was level 16 or something. I do have the Baron now, so he took poor Alkazans mirror and one of his werewolves killed the red dragon.

Anyways, now for the question. There's a dragons horde in Acherons lair, you can pick it up and you can drop it. What does it do?

I can't find any explanation for it anywhere. It's not mentioned in the civiliopedia, but might be mentioned in the manual, but I somehow doubt it. When you play this mod, you get a thousand questions that can't be answered, yet there's not that many questions like these on the forumthreads either... Anyone know where you can find answers to questions like this?

I'd appreciate if anyone out there would lend a helping hand.

You get a shitton of culture per turn in the city it's in (more than what most wonders generate), and any melee unit that visits the city it's in gets the Enchanted Blade promotion.

Doesn't it also provide some sort of bonus resource of gold or gems or something? And points towards some sort of great person?

Uh... it used to provide Mithril, but that was taken out (oh how I miss those days.) If it provides gold/gems, well, that's a pretty lame way to try to compensate for what was lost, so much so that I never even noticed it.

It used to provide Gold, Gems, and Mithril. In the main mod Mithril was dropped in favor of Enchanted Blade, as it was making the barbarians too strong too soon, but the other bonuses were untouched.

In my modmod it gives Mithril once again (as well as enchanted blade). I have changed it so that it enters the world as a promotion on Acheron rather than a building, so the barbarians don't benefit from it. The city instead starts with another wonder, Shrine of the Inferno, which generates similar culture, spawns Disciples of Acheron/Sons of the Inferno, and gives Fire I to units in the city. It is a national wonder available only to the barbarians, which cannot be captured.

The Dragon's Horde building provides culture, the Enchanted Blade promo to units *built* in the city*, and +1 Gems. This can be fairly useful on maps with continents as it may be the only source on a particular continent. Several of the Huge maps I've played on have only had one tiny continent with any Gems or Silk available, so these alternate resource routes are situationally useful. If the AI valued trade in any way shape or form it would be *much* more useful.

*Unless I'm particularly out of it right now. Haven't reinstalled post Windows 7 RTM yet.

Hadesscorn on the issue of trade,
The ai is very hard to trade with, but you might find the f3, or was it f4 or f5..., anyways a fwhatever a useful button. It has a trade menu, where you can see what different ai wants to trade and what resources they already have. (It might be a submenu on a menu already available through other means, otherwise its not accessable by any other button or means that I know of.)
That way I managed to trade quite a bit in the game I'm playing now. In fact, I traded myself to victory, by getting the option to trade for both Iron and horses. It seems that I didn't need to get horses though, for whatever reason, because I could make Nyxkins without any horses.

Iron weapons was helpful though.

Yeah and thanks everyone!
You helped a real lot!
Now I can make a lot of warriors with enchanted blades. Although I already have a lot of adepts specialized in this endeavour... :dunno:

Dragon's Hoard gives enchanted blade to units built elsewhere which visit the city too. I'm positive about this.

A lot of this info is contained in-game, it's just not always apparent where to look. If you look in the building list for the city with the Hoard, you'll see it listed and you can mouseover it to get info about what it does (though I dont think it mentions the enchanted blade effect)

The Dragon's Horde building has the <bApplyFreePromotionOnMove>1 tag, which dispite how it might sound actually means that the promotion is applied to all eligible units that are in the city at the start of each turn, not to units as they move through the city.

enchanted blade is somewhat useless as i usually have adepts doing that.

I vote for Mithril from the captured dragons horde to be added back to the main FFH mod.... but then Kael is still mysteriously missing (working on FFH3 in Civ5?).

Kael said he isn't making an FFH3. If we have one in Civ5, then somebody else will probably have to make it.
