Hello everyone i`m a new member of this fantastic group, but i`m having a bit of a problem, my money is always very low doesn`t there excist codes or cheats for this fantastic game??

yeh when u get 2 the diplomacy screen click on gold per turn and put 1 then as many 0's as u can i think it only works up to warlord

Or build marketplaces, and put the science rate down. How much money do you have?

Make certain that all your food/shield producing squares have roads connected to a city.

Obviously having a marketplace and bank in every major city helps..:) And having a few taxman doesn't hurt your income level either.

As to cheats? Cheats only ruin the fun of the challenge to be victorious without having to lean on crunches...:yinyang:

Good luck!

Your absolutely right about that codes ruin the fun of the game, that was also the problem with the first and second part of the game i always used the cheat mode, so i didn`t really enjoyed playing it anymore,

O yeah i have about 1400 coins but that`s because of the wonder "wallstreet"

Thanks for replying so fast to me

See you:goodjob:

Yo, 1400 and your not happy? WOW!! Plenty of times when I had less then 10 and was totally happy...:D :crazyeye: :D

How long did it take you to get the 1400 together?

1400 is pretty good, especially if you're in Ancient or Middle Age. You'll do fine with that much.

The most I've had is 21,000 gold, but I used so little of it. I just wasted it on spies, and bought nukes and temples.

5000-6000 gold will get you through the Industrial and Modern Era ok.

Wrong.

First of all the AI cheats and thus leans on its own CRUTCHES.

Secondly, the game is supposed to be fun and enjoyable to the buyer; if he wants cheats LET HIM HAVE IT AND HAVE FUN.

We had a "multi'sav" cheat for renaming .sav files so we could see the entire map, but vindictive and petty Firaxis killed that one.

Thirdly, the Cheat Mode in Civ 2 allowed us to do MANY things other than "cheat": we could switch sides in a scenario; check out the terrain at the start to be sure it was fair; alter the map of a scenario; do many things. We have no Cheat Mode (or scenarios) in Civ 3, and that greatly damages the value and fun of the game. You think Civ 3 will be around as long as Civ 2 was? Not hardly.

You haven't convinced me...:)

Well i took about 50 turns or watever, and do you know why Firaxis don`t want us to use codes and cheats, come on just like Zouave said i Quote: "Secondly, the game is supposed to be fun and enjoyable to the buyer; if he wants cheats LET HIM HAVE IT AND HAVE FUN." so i don`t really get it, but it could be just me

K, let me explain..:)

The reason why I am against cheats is simple: it ruins the challenge of the game, period.

If you can't be victorious at the more challenging levels, emperor and deity, without having to use cheats then your simply not skilled enough; not meaning that this means that you shouldn't be playing at those levels, after all: we can learn from our mistakes and evolve into a more skilled player.

To say that since the the AI uses cheats at the higher levels of difficulty isn't an excuse to use them yourself; again, if you can't face the challenge that comes with emperor and deity level then you should either learn from your mistakes so you can avoid them in later games or simply not play at those levels but instead remain at monarchy level or lower.

Ok, youre making a point there, but some games are nicer with cheats, like Sims livin large, because it really takes a lott of time when you want a house of your dreams but you have a job that doesn`t get paid well, just like Civ3 it takes time and skills to win from 8 players and i have tried it but that didn`t work.
I even find it hard to play against 2 other players.
I haven`t got this game for long, but long enough to know that i can`t conquer players when there are 7 other
But you are right about the cheats ruin the game, but always losing is also ruin the game, and i rather win with cheats then lose without cheats
