I resign.

What's the irony in this is that I fell for such a cheap move. Must hit the chess books !

Thank you for a very entertaining game. I lasted 37 moves in relative equality... ;) I will put this game through a thorough analysis on Chessmaster and Fritz...

Heh, the game wasn't bad but the ending was really curious. Btw, you would have excelent chances to equal the game if you played b6-b5 when your Queen was on b2. After you missed that opportunity you had slighty worse but not lost.:) How about a second game? This time you could play with white...:)

Ok. Here's the Chessmaster 8000 analysis. Amazingly, this is my strongest game yet (except for the last 3 moves).

(38. Kg5 39. f4+ Kh6 ) - Black looses queen and has no hope of continuing

I got a simular result with my Chessmaster 9000 @ 30 sec/move. Although CM agreed on one more white move and black's total error was a little higher at 10.05 pawns.

I forgot to mention my analisys was 10 seconds per move. I didn't notice any substantial improovement between CM 2000 and CM 8000.

I imagine it's possible that Chessmaster 9000 would be able to challenge you, at least with shorter time control. It beat the best player in my club without any problems two times of two, although he was "only" ranked 2292.

The program claims to be ranked at 2795 on my system, that would be a USCF rating and I have no idea if it's true since I am nowhere near of beating it even on it's medium setting.

And if nothing else, it's pretty fun to hear Josh Waitzkin talk about many of his games.

I dont know about CM 9000 but i can win Fritz 6 playing 5 minutes each. So, once i got a rating about 3100 - it was a bad day for Fritz.

:D

What kind of computer do you have spy?

When you run Chessmaster 9000 on your system, the program performs a CPU benchmark measurement and adjusts the ratings accordingly. That formula is [Base Rating] + 50 * ln([Your CPU Speed] / [Base CPU Speed]) / ln(2). A reasonable rule of thumb to use is that each doubling of CPU speed results in a rating increase of 50 points.

I guess this is about right for other programs as well.
