I was trying to mod the game, to add units to the game (C3C). Anyway, I thought I messed something up, so I tried to uninstall the game (Conquests). It didn't work (there was an error message halfway through, and after much tampering with different files) so I went to the Infogrames folder in the Program Files in the hard drive (this was where I was modding the game mostly, also using the editor) then I tried to delete the whole Conquests folder to the recycle bin. Then it gave a message about how the folder for my unit that I created was being used by another program, and it wouldn't go to the recycle bin. So, finally, I had had enough, so I moved it (the whole Infogrames folder) to the desktop (which it would let me do, I don't know why). From there, I then moved it to the recycle bin (which it would let me do again) and deleted it. During that it did give two messages about how doing that might cause programs not to work, but I ignored them. This was probably a stupid thing I did, I should have just left the game on there. But now the problem is the game won't install again. It won't uninstall either. The CD is somehow tricked into thinking the game is still installed on the computer. Here is a screen of the auto-run. You'll see what I mean-

As you can see, the auto-run still gives all of the normal options, the only thing is, it still doesn't allow you to re-install it. No file or trace of the game is still on the computer!

So, can some of you super-computer geniuses out there figure out what I did and how I can fix it? Much thanks, because this would mean the end of my Civ career (until CivIV comes out). I was just recalling what happened because this all happened last night. If you need to know anything else, just ask. Thanks again!

I may be able to help you, but I need to know if you've ever modified the windows registry. It sounds like you may have to delete registry entries in order to get the game to work again, and if you've never altered the registry or feel uncomfortable in doing so, then you probably shouldn't.
If you do feel comfortable editing the registry, then I'll tell you what you'll have to do to rid your PC's registry of all CIV3 registry entries.

I fixed it guys! Went to the Atari Support website and it said what file to delete from the registry. I did what it said and it fixed it. I didn't even know what the registry was until I read that... Thanks anyway!
