I support The Christian Mod

It does not matter whether you agree with this mods contents or not.

Yes, it matters very much. If there were a kiddie porn mod it should be banned. If a mod is deemed too controversial it should be banned. Would you appove of the 'Jesus and friends graphic barnyard sex mod'? I wouldn't either and would support it being banned.

This is a free speech and freedom of religion issue and you don't have to like the mod to support its unbanning.

This is a privately owned site and doesn't even have any fees for all of the great info and downloads that can be obtained here. You do have free speech and free religion, but on your own site, not necessarily on anyone elses.

Personally, I do think the mod is offensive, and I hold no religous beliefs. I personally see this as just trying to force beliefs upon somebody else which makes me extremly angry. It would be interesting what a Muslim or Hindu thinks of this mod.

First off, I'm not religous. Why would it bother you? Nobody is forcing anything on you. You aren't forced to play that MOD, or even read the thread. You are allowing people to preach their beliefs to you, nobody is forcing you to read or listen to them though.

No, it's not. It's privately owned. You don't have the right to come into my house and say whatever you want, or preach about your religion, any more than you do on a private website. You should learn more about what you hold so dear before discussing it's actual relevancy.

What you do have the right to do is go create your own website and talk about it. Or go onto a site that allows religious discussion, and talk about it there.

But for the record, this isn't the US, it's the internet. Not the same thing.

Two things:

First, I wouldn't get worked up about all this.

Second, The only rights you have here are the rights that the owners of the website decide to give you, as with all internet domains, from fansites to pornsites, the mods, owners, and administrators can do whatever they want. If they decide your mod is unsuitable for whatever reason, they can get rid of it, so don't hop on a "soapbox" and scream freedom of speech and expression and all that stuff, because you don't have it here.

If my memory serves me correctly, the reason this mod was introduced in the first place was because some people consider Christianity as being weakly represented in the game when compared to other religions.

I always thought that Christianity became the religion it is today on the back of a series of powerful empires that propelled it to its current status (Roman all the way to the globally spanning 19th Century European empires).

I would never argue that it was something intrinsic about Christianity itself that made it so big, more that the powers that adopted it, thrust it onto others. In this sense the game makes perfect sense. Should someone pick Christianity and decide to send missionaries all over the place and conquer half the planet, then that religion would spread rapidly... would it not?
