I want new sounds!

I'm not quite sure if this is still in your definition, but another nice (German) band would be
Subway to Sally,
In Extremo (less) or
Schandmaul.

mitsho

Another band I meant to suggest is The Young Gods - a bunch of industrial pioneers from Switzerland. Consistently good.

Excellent thread:D

I really like Covenant, I would recomend them.

White Zombie?

Which genre (Industrial/EBM/Goth) is that? (For easy ref when I visit the record store).
It's more metal, but it fits in with Industrial as well. Rob Zombie solo's stuff is quite good to. It's the kinda band that the more metal inclinded indsutrial fans get into. In the record store it would be under metal.

I liek those bands, but have to say that Fear Factory are most definetely METAL, abielt with some Industrial leanings.

Tool are my fave band:D They aren't Industrial though:p But me and my friends who like Industrial music all like Tool.

@ mitsho: Categorized as "Medieval-Folk Rock"? That's not exactly bull's eye, but I might check them out anyway.

@ Eklektikos: "industrial pioneers" is a quality mark.

@ Davo: so Rob Zombie is behind this White Zombie project? I'm not too enthusiastic about this Zombie guy though. I scanned the catalogue at Shadowland (alternative record store in Oslo) and found a MCD: Living Dead Girl.

I knew you would like it. :)

@ TLC: if you still read this. What's the status of Swedish bands these days? Page, S.P.O.C.K., POUPPEE FABRIKK, Elegant Machinery et cetera.

Well, Elegant Machinery isn't too elegant IMO.

@ Everyone: do you know any bands playing with classical tunes in these categories?

I can think of one song: Front Line Assembly - Fragmented (from their album Civilization ;)), using strings from Vivaldis Four Seasons. Excellent!

I never cared too much for S.P.O.C.K., but judging from their homepage they're still in business. Haven't released anything new since '01, however.

I'm not really familiar with the rest of the bands you mention. I could ask my sister - she's more into the whole EBM/Industrial side than I am.

I never cared too much for S.P.O.C.K. either, some of their songs are downright pathetic. Nevertheless I actually went to 4 of their concerts (more to get sloshed than anything else). One of the members have contacts in my hometown so they are frequent visitors. And you have the Arvika festival of course (Arvika widely regarded as "the navel of the Earth" :p).

I really like The Young Gods early records, but the later ones are just ambient (oh, did I listen to a record? I missed it completely  ).

Some Goth:
Fields of the Nephilim (released a new record last month, in the good old classic style :))
Bauhaus
Paradise Lost is an old doom band that listened a bit too much on Depeche Mode, could be something for you.
Siouxsie And The Banshees
And may I assume that you've heard of The Cure? ;)

Grotus was an old Industrial band I like, they mixed a bit of Oriental music and old blues into their music.
Klinik old Belgian band, I have trouble categorising them, does deppsynth tell you anything? ;)
Lard old Ministry side project.
Some of my friends say that Mesh is the best thing since sliced bread.

HTH :)

Yes, I thought so, BUT, if you do, listen to their album "Engelskrieger" or the other new one wich leans more heavily towards what you want to hear, I think. So, what I wanted to say is that "Medieval-Folk Rock" is what you get if you advance deeper and deeper into the past, but the newer ones might be more like your liking. ;)

Yeah, that was his band. I quite like the song Living Dead Girl, if you like that then your probs like his other stuff, if not then not so

Mesh is a bit hit-and-miss, but I really like the song "Little Missile".
I like alot their song 'Trust You' and I heard another song which i was told wa sthem in a clubn which sounded very good. Hopefully I will get a CD by them this weekend when I go on an EBM/Industrial/Goth shopping spree in Camden.

@thetrooper

InExtremo covered Totus Floreo from Carmina Burana. It is one of my favourite covers. But as mitsho they are not quite industrial. They have bagpipes and stuff along with guitars.:band:

My favourite band that could fall under the heading of industrial would be Insurge. Aussie band, very political lyrics, very good live

1) It depends heavily on the exact song (as it is with Subway)
2) That's why I put a "less" and the whole sentence before in my post.

@ mrtn: Siouxsie And The Banshees and The Cure? Sure. They are both great.

Deppsynth is a term I'm familiar with, yes.

Grotus sounds very promising!

Mesh OTOH is way overrated.

@ mitsho: I'll give it a try. :)

@ Davo: "EBM/Industrial/Goth shopping spree in Camden."

@ jeriko one: Carmina Burana is excellent stuff. And, of course, I can accept guitars (as long as they are sampled ;)).

Thanks for all the input so far folks (and thanks to the spammers not present for, er, not being present).

I'm still keen on tips about 'classical' samples/tunes in industrial type music. :scan:

And The Sisters of Mercy - wannabees.

You really should check out Klinik, dark brooding music, and song titles like "Cold as Ice" and "Murder" should tell you something about their lyrics. ;)

Fields of the Nephilim reminds of Sisters, I didn't get if you've listened to them or not. They're one of the really big goth bands.

I think there has been a misunderstanding. I saw the `less` but forgot to type `said`. So the correct sentence would be `As mitsho said...`. Sorry for the poor typing.

BTW, I also recommend Gravity Kills and Filter.

It's a shame I haven't checked Klinik yet. They team up with lots of different bands?

KLINIK & VIDNA OBMANA
KLINIK / DIVE
KLINIK / INSEKT
KLINIK / MONOLITH
KLINIK / NOISE UNIT
KLINIK / SONAR

Fields of the Nephilim, noted.

So is Insurge sanabas.

I don't really know about those team ups... but I recognise most of the band names...
Check out the Dirk Ivens site http://www.dirkivens.com/index.htm
He's one of the main members of Klinik, it has a bunch of mp3 downloads (one Klinik consert and a bunch of stuff with earlier bands).
