Idea: send army to all barracks/ranges

One random idea: Have an option to automatically send your army to the barracks/ranges. Sometimes after a war, I want to send my units back to barracks/ranges so they can get training but it is kind of tedious to click each unit, scan the map for green spaces, and clicking on each one. if there were a way to have the closest unit to each available green space go there, that would be amazing and remove a lot of micromanagement.

Or maybe every unit has a "go train" option with that "automate" icon, so you just click that for each unit and it'll go to the closest one. Maybe that gets unlocked with an appropriate tech like how the other automate buttons are unlocked.

(Of course, if a human wants to micromanage exactly which unit goes where, they can do that.)

automation doesn't mesh well with the order system tho. Worker and scout automation were added in despite the dev team misgiving because of the clamours for it, but today many players are taken off guard when they find they don't have orders left. I'd really recommend using the option to have automated units make their move last rather than first if you use automation.
I personally don't think more automation would be good for the game, but suggest away !

I definitely support your idea of having automation be first or last. At first I wondered whether that creates some algorithm problem b/c if you don't have enough orders left for ALL automated units to do their thing, how does the computer pick which gets priority? But there's never a guarantee you'll have enough orders to move all your automated units, so there must already be a system of figuring out who goes first. And that's the cost of using automation -- you're letting the computer make these decisions, which is an appropriate cost.

I'm really only thinking about late game situations when i'm rofl-stomping, and have tons and tons of orders. I will finish a war, and will have to manually move tons of units. I would love at that point to just have all of them go to the nearest training ground, and if there aren't enough grounds, then that's on me to take care of manually.

to clarify, it's not really an idea, that feature is already in the game. By default when automating scouts and workers, the automated units move first, which of course spends orders. But there is an option in the menus to have them move last and use the remaining orders for their operations.
