iEditCiv is ready for its first test run!

System Requirements:
Mac OS 10.2
It MIGHT run on 10.1, give it a try, not guarantees though.

PLEASE read the readme file.

You should be able to add stuff now. I haven't tested all permutations of adding/deleting things, so don't be suprised if you do something that crashes your game. This does not add the art needed for any of the things, so if you add units, you need to update units_32.pcx, citizens the popHeads.pcx file, Civs - the flcs & the pcx for the foreign advisor screen, etc.

Happy Modding!
Put any comments / suggestions here. Its a suprisingly short program (around 500 or so lines of code).

Wonderful, senecasax. I'll test as soon as I get home. Its threatening snow, which means no school down here in the Southland. :goodjob:

Thanks for the work! Unfortunately, myself and many others have been having no luck at all getting the editor to work - at all.

My problem is that I can launch the application, but then it will not permit me to do *anything* except view drop-down menus and select terrain types. It will not let me paint, it will not let me edit maps, characters, anything.

I know that about a dozen other people I've talked with have had the same issue. My platform is a PowerBook G3 400mhz 640mb RAM, MacOS X 10.2.4.

Just a little heads-up.

hey, this is not the civ 3 editor, just a .bic editor (for the file). You want to download the Civ 3 editort go to wetslake website i think.;)

ALL this program does is let you add units/resources/ctitizen/civs/buildings. You'll need Civ3Edit (the "official" editior) to actually use these new things.

Get it Here:
http://www.civfanatics.net/downloads/civ3/patch/Civ_3_Edit.sit

My program will let you open a bic file, add a unit based on another, and then you load that file into Civ3Edit, and you've got yourself a new unit to play with.

AHH, why did you have to release this on a Tuesday?!! Now I'll go out of my mind with anticipation until Friday afternoon! :D

:goodjob: Senecasax! Tried it out- everything works flawlessly so far. I haven't yet tested the .bic I edited in Civ, so I can't tell you for sure if that works- but so far, so good. :)

When you add resources, it seems that the terrain squares have to be redefined to what resources they have. A few other issues with City Names & Leader Names, but this could also be part of the editor's bugs.

Senecasax,
Your program works wonderful. I was able to add the new unit and the CivEditor was able to reconize it which is great

But, do you know why the CivEditor will not save any of the custom settings I place on the Units. It won't even save the changes to the current units.

Thanks
Q

hmm... Make sure that under "scenario" menu, the custom rules is checked. The editor makes changes to its data as you edit the items, but sometimes it gets confused.

Usually I've edited the numbers, then went to the drop-down list and selected that unit again, and made sure the numbers have changed. Then, I save the bic file, and load it up as a scenario, and it seems to work well.

That was my problem, I was not saving out the new .bic file, I thought it was editing and auto saving to the current .bic file.

OOPS:crazyeye:

Thanks

You might want to put in your help that in order to get the icon for the new unit you are creating to show in the city build list we need to edit the units_32.pcx file.

Just a thought :)

Basically, anytime you see the words "Civ3MultiTool" replace them with iEditCiv, and you should be good. Let me know about bugs / etc. I've had problems after adding things where I lose data for the first item of things like terrains, techs, citizens, etc. The item is there, but the info with it is not. Again, i don't know if this is a new-item specific problem.

Okay, so if I have PTW, could I extract the guerilla unit and add it to a mod.bic as a special forces unit? This actually is asking two questions: (1) Can I do it technically? and (2) Can I do it ethically?

I did buy PTW, and I'm not trying to resell the unit.

1. Yes. Methinks so.
2. Er, uhm, uhh. Yes? Not sure about this, since you do own PTW, but then again... I dunno. Well, now that I think about it, yeah, you could probably use it, since you aren't going to give it away or anything..

Are animated units created in the PC mods compatible w/ our platform?

Yes, I've been using the multi-figure units for some time now. :)
