If I want to mod or use parts of the FfH2 mod, who do I ask for permission?

I wanted to make a new mod and it was suggested I use this mod because it's so good and has good graphics and stuff in it.

So who do I ask for permission so I can use the mod? Also if I make a mod, how do I give credit for the people who did most of the work?

I never did anything like this before so I want to make shure I do it the correct way. Most likely this will be for me only but if anyone wants it, I would share it with them, but I want to make shure first, I have permission to do so, and second, how to give credit where credit is due.

If you make all the changes yourself, there's no need to credit anyone. (Since the mod will most likely be based directly off FfH 2, and those credits are already available.)

Check out the sub forum of mod-mods for examples. You don't need, or if you prefer, have permission to take FfH 2 and run with it. Add new factions to the world if you like, or remove existing ones, whatever.
Just don't call it "Fall from Heaven 3" or anything, and do link back to here with a note or so.

Thank you guys. I will do so. I was thinking of making a TES type mod. There is lots of amazing stuff here, and bascially change names and hopefully figure out how to tweak the game, or change a few stats.

Well, IMO, you look at this thread to get most of the credits to modders, non-civ artists, music bands, ...etc
After that.. as it is a free mod for cIV, you can take all its contents, reskin all units, use and tweak all the mechanism... exactly as you want to make your own mod.
BUT, it would really be nice to give credit to the people who made the things.
a general "credits to the FFH team for ideas" might not be enough as the Team itself took mods, mechanisms...etc from other modders and tryed to give them credit.

IMO, the same thing can be said for the modmods (Wild Mana, Orbis, RifE) : you can take/use/transform all you want but give credits to the authors Normally I linked to the thread or post where those modmod teams gave credits or explained which modder's done what.
