My friend and I just started playing hotseat games recently, as he can't get enough time on the comp at his place for a civ game. I have been player one with him at 2 and the rest of the civs following. What is happening now that we are in a conflict is that when he finishes his turn, Enemy moves in my territory aren't being shown. This is, as you would expect, causing massive problems. At one point I had an attack force creeping up on a border city, before war was declared, Seeing as I had about 20 cities at this point and wasn't tracking around each border tile searching for troops, I missed the approach. All of a sudden war is declared after the next player two turn and I start my turn with 2 less cities, which I had no warning about. Is there a remedy for this or is Hotseat just not worth it. Really if there is no soloution, playing hotseat is fundamentaly flawed and shouldn't even me a MP component IMHO....

No remedy. It's stupid, he can see enemies moving on his turn, but human player 1 can never see any other civs moves.

But really, what's your hurry? If you don't want to give up entirely, take a couple of secs to scan your border before hitting that spacebar. Maybe do it right between checking for disorder and conducting diplomacy? It doesn't take THAT long, just a new habit to learn.
