Immortals a charriot?

WOW!!!

First game since this post, i went persian, and didn't get a horse resource...

Second game, i went persian, got a horse resource but no iron,

Third game, i went persian, got a hrose resource and iron

Conclusion:
Immortals are among the worst units in the game by FAR, totally pathetic, I find more use for Horse Archers!!!

Why did you need the iron resource?

Immortals are pretty easy rush with, I've found. Knocking out one or two neighbors is a cinch, maybe you didn't build enough soon enough in the beginning?

Why do you need Iron? Horses are all that is required for Immortals (at least in Vanilla).

I think they are a top 5 UU on a top 5 Civ, myself, CRE/EXP (vanilla, not sure if they changed Cyrus in Warlords/BTS). I have a couple solid Emperor performances with this civ, especially on Pangaea maps, where a strong UU and fast border pops are strong assets.

My point was when i had a iron resource, swordsmen or axemen were far more compotent than immortals, i play normal time scale, maybe epic or marathon are different, but it is not long at all before immortals are useless, 1 spearman takes out like 3 immortals no problem...

Cyrus is Charismatic and Imperialistic now and Darius is Financial and Organised but I can't see that it makes a massive difference. Immortals are a great early rush UU, making the Persians 1 of the few civs where I'll research AH before BW. If there are no horses around it sucks but not as badly as it does say for the Romans if they don't have iron since AH doesn't take that long to research.
