I took the old version of North America that I had converted using my Advanced MapUtility from a Civ2 map...

I re-edited it to make the rivers better, and to put realisticallly placed resources on the map... it SHOULD be very playable and very realistic!

What is this "Advanced MapUtility" you speak of? My friend and I spent countless hours with a ruler, a calculator, and a book creating a perfectly scaled map for Civ 2 from a fantasy series we read. Now that Civ 3 has come out, we wanted to make the map for it but the map editor is so useless that we gave up (we couldn't even zoom out to see the whole map!). If this "Advanced MapUtility " can allow us to copy the Civ 2 map we created, that would make our lives much easier.

I like the NA map, but it seems to have a problem.
Whenever I try to share maps with some other civs the game crashes. I THINK I've got it figured out: if any of thier cities are on the top or bottom edge of the map (not just one square away, actually touching), you can't get thier Territory map. If they have knowledge of the very top or bottom edge of the map, you can't get their World map. (This includes every civ after not too long.) I'm attaching my savegame, try sharing maps with the Russians or Germans. I'm wondering if this is a problem with you AdMapEd?

I also found i couldnt bomb cities on the very top of the map without my game freezing up. When the plane flew over the city off the top edge of the map it would crash.

Even though the Advanced MapUtility is not fully done, and the code for all the Civ3 stuff is not fully implemented... the actual codes being stored match the ones that Civ3 uses exactly for the tile data, and the rest of the file sections are copied (for now) directly from the header of a blank 100x100 map created by the editor...

All the errors I've heard mentioned have been associated with the edges of the maps... so it is possible there is some weird code that needs to be assigned to map edges, but I doubt it...

I programmed a game similar to Civ2 & 3, and I left out a few special cases with regards to the map edges... THAT kind of mistake will cause a crash if someone left out a piece of code at Firaxis... even the best programmers are not perfect...

thus it is more likely it is a game error, since someone with a random map and arctic territory reported errors with the edge of the map

Since not many people are posting on this, I will thank you for making such a good map.
