Improvement adjacency bonuses

I was thinking, with districts and certain improvements getting adjacency bonuses from certain terrain, resources, districts or even wonders, why not extend the bonuses to some other improvements as well.
For instance, a sawmill may benefit from having uncleared woods adjacent to the tile it's built on; mines get bonuses if next to other hills and mountains.
Just a thought.
 
I believe this is in the game in some form. Certainly via unlocks in the tech and civics tree. I would need to really dig to find the confirmation on this one but I believe it was either mentioned or spotted somewhere that lumber mills get bonuses for being near rivers.

Even if it's not, can you imagine the explosion of mods that will touch on just this subject? There could even be new improvements, and their adjacency bonuses, etc etc... Not saying it'd all be easy to balance, but a semblance of a balance can be worked out over time, and then it's time to declare Civ VI officially the best Civ ever. :king::goodjob:
