Increasing game length

I'm new to the civ games. This has probably been brought up a thousand times before. How can I increase the length of the game? Is there a setting or a file mod that I can do to make it last longer?

yeah, just make your map size larger and turn the game speed to epic.

You can also get some mods from the completed modpack section if you want the game even longer. Some people feel that epic is still too fast.

You can set up a custom game and turn off the time victory. That way, you can play until the end of eternity (or until someone wins through another way)!

my problem, is just as the fun begins (modern age), the game is over.... I think the space race should finish once future tech 10 is researched or something.

I suspect you could probably increase the game length by adding more entries to CIV4GameSpeedInfo.xml.

Personally, I have the opposite problem: I want to reduce the game length. For me, all the fun is the early stages of the game, the modern era is boring.

Sometime soon, I expect I'll experiment with removing entries from CIV4GameSpeedInfo.xml, to see what happens.
