Increasing Strength of a Unit

Hi Folks,

New to the boards and the game. A quick question about increasing a units strength after a fight. Does this increase the overall hit points of the unit or does it just act like a heal giving a 10% increase in current hit points?

An upgrade increase the health of the unit, bringing it closer to full health from where it was. In roleplaying terms, it increase the current hit points but not the maximum hit points the unit has.

Of course, the upgrade could increase the combat strength of the unit also.

Every unit has 100 hit points when fully healed. Giving a damaged unit a promotion after a fight also gives it some healing, though never right up to full strength. Healing is fastest in your own territory, slower in neutral, and very slow in enemy: the presence of a unit with the Medic 1 or 2 promotion speeds healing.
