Hey I just got BTS last week and am enjoying my first game with the Dutch. One question though, I just got up to Industrialism and have factories in many of my core cities which has unlocked the Industrial Park. Wow, that's a LOT of unhealthiness.
Don't build it unless you're running environmentalism. At the late game there's tons of spare options available. Remember to prioritize building Recycling Centers and Public Transportation. That plus Environmentalism (if you really need it) is enough to completely eliminate worries.
No - for three engineers. One's free but it's the ability to assign even more citizen-engineers that makes it worthwhile. For a high-pop city or specialist city it's Fantabulous
Well I believe in real life it's not to reduce pollution, but centralize it away from the residential areas where people live. I'm sure your city has some scuzzy part of it that's all smoggy and smells like crap, where there's lots of jobs but you couldn't pay someone to actually live downwind of it.
Well I caveated it later with the "if you really need it" but in most cases, if you're running Environmentalism the from the Industrial Park becomes a non-issue.
If you specialize cities alot there can be use of them right away when you discover Industrialism but I find them in the majority of my core cities Post-Genetics and all those health buildings.
6 hammers...Well Forge, Factory, Power = 12 hammers. 25% +25% +50% bonuses.
Police State + Military Academy = 4 or 5 hammers. 25% + 50%
So, for military production we are talking 16 or 17 hammers per turn. Not all that bad in my eyes.
After I've got a powered factory (+100%) I'll build them (doesn't take as long then either) just for the single free engineer which provides 4 hammers. That's like having a free hill. I'll take it. I will take every bit of production I can. In the long run, it's worth it.
Sushido makes up for any pollution problems, besides, it gives me incentive for actually bothering to build those hammer hog hospitals.
I certainly wouldn't build them everywhere, but a few industrial parks are generally useful. The National park gets one obviously. So do my high production cities - engineers are better than any other specialists there (except Angkor Wat priests I suppose), and they usually aren't big enough for drastic health problems. Failing that, it's nothing that Sushi can't fix.
