In one turn Fanatica will enter a new aera: Industrial Times.

Let us adjust our behaviour to the new challenges:

We are at war with Russia and will probably eliminate them next turn. We are for now the only country with cavalry and have 38 of theese fast mean attackers.

Our Golden Age is about to end.

Our main adversary in the future will be Persia. They are already the dominant power on the other continent. They are at war with the Zulus and will probably crush them completely.

IMHO the key to ruling the future is to have a technology lead. With a tech lead, we can build superior units (infantry, artillery, tanks, airforce), get important wonders (ToE, Hoover, US), and sell technology for lots of cash to the rest of the world.

To get the science lead, we have to strengthen our research and money capability. Important cities with high potential do not yet have the necessary improvements. I would propose to build these NOW instead of more muskets and cavalry, since our army is definitely strong enough to wipe out Babylon and India. And by the time we turn towards Germany, both the improvements and railroads for instant transport will be in place.

Specifically, I advocate the following builds (immediate production switches):

Groton to library from cavalry (1 turn) and university
Deux Riviere to university from cavalry (5 turns)
Sanction to university from cannon (7 turns); we have plenty of cannon
Montpellier to university from musketeer (7 turns)
Santa Lucia to library from cavalry(1 turn)
Bootsville to library from cavalry(2 turns)

Whether we have 4 more cavalry or not will not significantly change our military power, but the ability to research 1 turn faster once our Golden Age ends may be very important.

PS: I remember all those people advoacting to reseach banking "because banks give more money". Fact is, very few banks were built. And only by me, despite the fact that I argued against giving preference to banking. Now I would build more banks, but people/governors might have different preferences....

However, having just a few more cavs (I only need a couple more next turn), will give us the "magic number" of 40. I'd also rush some muskets in our recently captured cities (along the border, as to not give Germany any ideas). I must admit though, this medival warfare is winding down. ;) The Bab colonies can still be captured, but it would take longer with less cavs, since most will be occupied with Babylon. They do have knights from the German war, and probably have a good number of them. I'd like to atleast have SOME reinforcements. It's pretty hard to follow through on a war with bank tellers and fishermen...

And thus I propose to switch 5 of the 20 cities building military units to infrastructure. An acceptable mix, I would argue.

And having more research power means lower science slider necessary means more money for hurrying units.

I think we can switch over to infrastructure once half the Babylonian cities are taken (maybe turn 5 of this upcoming turnchat?). That should be enough for 1 or 2 more cavs in most cities that are already building one. I don't want the cav supply cut off. True, cavs are more powerful than muskets, pikes, and spears, but it doesn't mean they'll win 100% of the time.

Yes. And it will be too late to build research capability in the meager rest of our Golden Age. :(

Having the choice between 1 or turns faster research or 1 or 2 turns faster conquest, I would choose research, you the conquest. As easy as that. :goodjob:

I think Tao's plan is reasonable and will help us alot in the long run. Why do we need so many more cavs anyways? Remember, we have an army and will soon have the military academy which means more armies. Also, we're not going to war with Babylon until after we build our railway system, aren't we?

No, were going to kill Babylon ASAP. Their threat is too clear.

Id say we make lines of rails first to connect our cities together, then we spread the ralis from the "rali lines" all across the country. Be sure to try to link up every city with at least 1 rail so we can rush forces to it quickly if an enemy decides to invade.

Railroad network should be in place in 8-10 turns. But the attack on Babylon IMHO can easily start in 2-3 turns. They are too weak to put up any strong resisitance.

The main threat will come from flips of conquered cities. Thus it is vital to STARVE them down and use strong garrisons. Finally a use for all those bloody swordsmen.

indeed, though I believe I suggested (or mabye ordered) that we disband all those damn swordsmen as they are good for nothing on the offence. But I suppose they can be used to these garrison jobs.
