what determins your inflation expense? mine is getting pretty high now and without it i would be making about 300 gold per turn at 100% science.

also my last game had non stop global warming problems even though i build hydro plants and recycling centers. the global warming hit the same city 5 times and a few other cities on at least 8 occasions and pretty much ruined my production. is there any way to turn it off?

you cant decrease inflation, so you should increase commerce.

what civ game are you playing? civ 3 or 4?

you need to play a lot of games to get good.

is there any way to turn it off?

You can play in an alternate universe with no global warming, by editing the configuration files for Civ4.

Open GlobalDefines.xml (with Notepad, or another text editor, or Microsoft's "XML Notepad" program), and find the following lines in the file:

<Define>
<DefineName>GLOBAL_WARMING_PROB</DefineName>
<iDefineIntVal>20</iDefineIntVal>
</Define>

Then change "20" to "0".

global warming used to be related to city pollution values in previous versions of civ. it's not in civ4. now it is only caused by nukes and nuclear plant meltdowns. this often confuses people since it can happen even if no nukes are launched; the AI is very fond of nuke plants if someone else has built three gorges dam, and often they don't have access to coal.

recycling centers aren't a bad idea, they help your population not starve. they just don't reduce the chance of global warming in any way, which is what i think you thought.

If you disable global warming, you should also disable The Internet.

Both are inventions of Al Gore.:crazyeye: :p
