What do you think of Infogrames changing it's name to Atari?

I don't like Infogrames much and the "new" name is better but it feels like the Atari has now been slimed.

I don't care what the name of a video/computer game company is, as long as it makes good games. :)

I dont think it is that big of a difference. However, it is designed to mislead the consumer.

Certainly. I don't think most people pay much attention to who made a certain game, and those who do tend to be more serious gamers who'd likely know about the change anyway. For me, it is merely bothersome that Infogrames would do this; I won't lose any sleep over it.
BTW, how many times has the Atari name been 'cannibalized' now? Frankly, I'd consider Atari (the maker of the 2600) long dead by now; this is just Inforgrames trying to take advantage of name recognition.

With you there. As long as they make good games, they could be called Fluffy Pink Elephants for all I care.

Marketing, marketing, marketing! If it works, I suppose it's good for us civers since Atari might possibly increase their civ funding. Oh well, who cares. Names don't matter.

Infogrames to Atari - different name same crappy company that makes the same crappy games.
The only good games that ive ever seen from Infogrames is Civ 3 and MOO - every other game they have had their hand in is total crap; if its Infogrames - now Atari, ur sure to have a BAD game.
I mean example is the Final Fantasy series - a great set of games all of them except number 9, and amazingly enough Infogrames had a hand in that disaster of a game which is basically Final Fantasy 4 and 5 put together and given "better" graphics - hello can we say boring!
I am wary about buying any game which has the Infogrames tag on it, and will continue to be wary now that they have changed their name.
As the old saying goes - a leopard doesnt change its spots.
