As a new citizen, I've been on a quest to find out as much as I can about our great nation.

I haven't been very succesful, since it's apparently rather hard to find accurate data about the state of the nation. Particularly glaring was the lack of any cartography in the relevant thread. Am I missing something here ?

As I don't want to be just a whiny *****, I propose a solution: we should establish a ministry of information. Its job will be twofold:

1. To try to answer as best as possible any reasonable request for accurate information, be it historical, geographic, cultural, military, or whatever.

2. To create regular publications that provide much needed information to make the public more informed, i.e.: maps, timelines, ...

If it's possible to find all this kind of information and I just missed it, please point me to it. Thank you.

There is a full culture report in the culture ministry thread. That I know for sure.

Otherwise, I'd have to agree with you. There was just recently a movement to start an office of statistics that would hold all of this information, but I don't know what happened to that. I think it was Invy and Ginger Ale who were starting this, though I may be wrong. I don't know what happened to the cartography thread. It sort of died. Then it started again. Then, it died. So, there have been many attempts to do this and none have prevailed so far. The best way to get information is to download and look at the current save. If you want to start another movement then more power to you and the best of luck.

Citizens shouldn't be forced to look at the save to understand the state of the nation, but it certainly is the best way to understand it completely. I don't know if all ministries have been providing updates, but the various ministerial and provincial threads should help you. I believe there is a publication, the Japanese Sun Times or something like that, as well. Talk to Strider or Ginger Ale if you want to know more about that.

Yeah, I think we need a basic report of what happens every turn-chat. The only problem is that someone would have to go to Ms. President's house and look over her sholder, as she has enough stuff to do already.

What I think would be really cool would be animate gifs of the upcoming war with the Iro's.

I think it should be a ministers job to supply enough information for the citizens to make an informed decision without having to look at the save.

The newspaper is moving slowly, I've been sick and throwing up most of this week, and just can't commit any time currently. Even though you can expect an issue this weekend.

It's possible to download the current save ? Where ?

And forgive me for immediately thinking the worst: isn't it possible to cheat if you have the save ?

You shouldn't. While it is possible to download the save, it is stated in the constitution,

Article M. Commission of any game action by any person other than
the Designated Player while carrying out their duties
that is not instantly reversible without reloading the
save is strictly forbidden.
1. Exception: Determining options in the renegotiation
of Peace agreements requires an action of acceptance
or war to exit the bargain screen. This may be done
but the game must be immediately closed without
saving.

Basically, you can do anything that is immediately reversable (moving laborers, changing sliders, etc.), anything immediately irreversible is "strictly forbidden".

And the save can be found in the last Turnchat thread in the main forum (if you can find it inbetween all those election threads ;) ). It should be right about at the bottom.

Aha, found it. Apparently I just downloaded the TC log instead of the .sav each time.

When my real life tasks for the day are finished I'll check it out and see what I can do.

I'm not sure yet if a new ministry would be needed, this might as well be a private enterprise. (I smell profit :mischief: )
