Installation crashes without any error...

This problem is really annoying...

When I insert the SMAC CD into my comp and the autorun installation begin I select "Install" and then I see a progress indicator telling me to wait until the program has prepared the installation process. The problem is that it never does! I keep waiting and waiting for minutes and all I see is my ordinary desktop which makes you wonder if the comp is f****** with me.

I had no problems installing SMAC on my old Win 98 machine. Could someone tell me what is wrong and what should I do? Please note that this is NOT about problems with running the game. Also, I do not receive any error message. I use Win XP Professional with SP 2. Thanks in advance.

Some times it takes ages for older games to get past that screen when you install them on XP comps. Sad, but true. Just be patient.

But if it takes more than an hour, something else is wrong.

Try several things:

1. See if the CD is scatched or dirty.
2. Reboot computer and try again.
3. Scan for viruses.
