installation problem

my problem is that after the first disk is installed and i insert the second one and press "ok" i get the following error

Feature transfer error

Feature: Defaultfeature
Component:
File:
Error: catastrophic faliure

my computer is straight out of the box and exceeds the recommended system requirements. i dont know if it helps but i have a CD/DVD RW drive and a DVD drive. any help would be greatly appreciated.

thank you very much for the help. i havent gotten the chance to test it out to see if it works but i really hope that it does. it is the exact same problem so maybe it will. i post if it dosent work however. thanks again.

I just bought CIV 4 and when I double-click setup.exe it abuses "is not proper Win32 application". I have Windows XP, Nvidia GeForce 6600GT and I also updated my graphic card driver. Autorun doesn't work.

In my older PC installation starts normally.

Edit: I found solution to problem from this site. I copied my DVD to hard disk and installed game trom hard disk.

I actually have been having the exact some problem. I just go a new hard drive to add a little more storage. I just got done formating and install XP, but then when I tried to install the game to the new hard drive (f, I get that exact same error. After a couple tries I decided to try installing it on my old one, (C and it worked just fine. I don't know if I was just lucky or what, but hey, whatever it takes to play Civ 4
