Installation Problems - BtS

I am having trouble installing BtS, I am assuming I somehow screwed up when I uninstalled it last time. The game still says it's installed, I get the 'Play' option instead of 'Install' during the autoplay, and also won't let me run setup.exe from the disc. Everytime I attempt to do so, I get the error message:

"The setup has detected that version 3.17.000 of Sid Meier's Civilization 4 - Beyond the Sword is already installed.

This setup installs an earlier version of Sid Meier's Civilization 4 - Beyond the Sword (3.03).

You will have to uninstall the previous version before installing this version."

I cannot find any remnant files from my last BtS installation. I tried using the Registry Editor to remove any files it had left, but I could not find the file associated with BtS. Strange enough, it lets me install Civ 4 and Warlords just fine.

I'm running Vista.

Hey, had the same problem myself.

For CivIV vanilla I 'explored' the disc in the drive and launched SetUp from there. I also copied the contents of Disc 2 to my hard drive and directed the install to there rather than the D drive.

Warlords installed just fine.

BTS...Still having problems. I can launch from the D drive Setup ok, but when I try to get the install to go to a different location than D drive...it reverts back to D drive.

Read a posting a few down from here on locations to delete out file locations on your hard drive too. That might help.

I'll let you know if I ever figure out the BTS side of things.
