Installation trouble

Hi guys.

I bough the box version from gamestop and am trying to install the game, but it won't go past installing the DX9. It had me set up a steam account.

The installation instructions don't really account for this, so idk what to do. any help would be awesome.

Did you try to update your DX installation separatly before and installing Civ5 then again?

Yes, I believe I have DX10 on my laptop actually. But it goes through the installation and ends right after the DX update.

ok, i think i got it. I guess steam required my com to restart b4 it allowed me to login and register in order to load the game.... I hate this system. I bought the game, I shouldn't have to have internet in order to play a single player game.
