Installed 1.61 Patch & No Mao Zedong

No, I'm not using a mod.

But here's my story:

I install patch.
Go to play, and up pops this xml error msg about the class tag for mao being wrong. And poof in the normal game NO Mao Zedong.

I'm like: "huh?"

So I exit and restart no error message and poof Mao's back!

I'm like ok w/e, must have been a glitch.

I go back into the game and POOF! same error message and Mao's in hidding again.


And to boot, in my mod state property is now a starting civic option. WTH.

Can anybody offer help?

This is the result of an installed mod for 1.52 that is not compatible with 1.61

but does it do that for the regular version too? the non-mod portion of the game?

I had that happen too and I don't even have any mods except for my custom leaderhead. I had to redo all of my XML files AGAIN. Oh well... it motivated me to change my leaderhead to something more evil looking.

Yes.. if you have any mods in customassets dirs

i ended up reinstalling and removing all the custom stuff, now I too get to redo the xmls. again.

argh.

Easy to fix.

Change these strings
_COMMUNISM -> _UTOPIA
_FORBIDDEN_PALACE -> _GREAT_PALACE
_THREEGORGESDAM -> _GREAT_DAM
_MAO_ZEDONG -> _CHINESE_LEADER
in your mods.

Seems you did it wrong way (changed _CHINESE_LEADER -> _MAO_ZEDONG in game's files) since right way is to change _MAO_ZEDONG to _CHINESE_LEADER in mod's files.

My custom assets are empty, no mods, so the only way was to change in game files. After all, it were my game files who were corupted after the patch.

This is a controversial issue, some people says I had old assets but it is not true.I deleted EVERYTHING related to CIV, then reinstalled and patched to 1.61. And Chinese leader in my first game. So there...


It seems people with no english version get the bug Chinese leader.

Hmm... When I updated into 1.52 my XML-texts were not updated. I don't know why, but maybe that has happened with you also.
