Hi, can anyone help me? I'm in the UK, just got the game, but cannot get it to install properly. My PC comfortably meets the stated recommended reqs, and I've got DX9.0c installed OK. I've tried a lot of the things suggested on the forum here, no luck. The official support seems to bear no relation to the game as I have it!
The install process seems to work fine (I've tried it more than once), but when I try to fire up the game, I immediately get the microsoft message about it having a problem and having to close.
I tried checking the config file in the Civ4 directory, but this is not a file, but a shortcut to a file in my documents\...\games\...\civ4. So I can't open it. It just says 'can't find civilization4.ini'. There are lots of other file shortcuts to this location too. Trouble is, the install process hasn't created this games folder, and there are no files there either. So I'm thinking this is maybe my problem, since the shortcuts seem to point nowhere and the relevant files are nowhere to be seen. I've not tried to customise any file locations, just let the program do its thing.
Am I missing something very obvious here?!
Thanks for any help
Andy
