Internet explorer won't work for all logins

Well, I've finally decided to solve an issue that I've been having with internet explorer.

When I'm in my login screen, internet explorer doesn't work. When I click it, it gives an "internet expolor has caused an unexpected error" dialog and then shuts down. This only happens on my login (winXP pro), I can access internet explorer just fine with my wife's login and guest, etc.

This isn't that big of a deal, because I use Mozilla Firebird as my browser anyway. The problem comes because windows update insists on using IE, and I insist on keeping Windows and Office as up to date as possible. Also, it just drives me nuts if something on my computer isn't working properly


I've tried a reinstall to no avail, and have run out of ideas...

Does anyone have any suggestions?

Reformat is always a solution, but surely isn't good advice.

I don't like it either when something doesn't work on the computer, I usually take it personally and consider myself incompetent until I've solved it...

I've got everything else running to smoothly, to reformat over an issue with internet explorer.

...and I understand what you mean by taking these things personally, because I take pride in making sure that my computer is running without ant hitches, and this is making me crazy ...

Since you don't want to reformat, maybe you could try to delete your own user and recreate it.
