My parents bought me CivV as a birthday present, and yesterday was my birthday!
So, after many days of waiting, I can finally start playing CivV (or so I thought).
I have the same intro crashing bug that seems to keep popping up, but I have seen the fix on how to skip it, and I am going to apply it after I typed this. That is not my question however, its this:

There are already 2 patches availble (on a side note: do these fix the intro crash?) but Steam doesnt seem to update my CivV. I have tried restarting everything (from steam to Windows) but I do not get a notification that its being updated. I also cant find it under downloads. Is this common? Do i actually need to play the game first? (tried to start it a few times, but as said: cant get past the intro)
Are they actually worth it (the updates I mean, good fixes?)?

All those patches will probably have been already applied during the initial installation. And yes, especially the last one introduced numerous good fixes. Due to how steam works, you will have no choice but to use it anyway ;)
If you want to avoid further patches, you have to set your steam to offline mode after you got civ to work.

right....So the patches do not fix the initial crash? seems I have to aplly the skip intro fix
