Is CiV actually re-playable?

I've now completed the game mostly on Chieftain, several times (one with each leader up to Genghis Khan (all of original leaders + Babylon).

And after a while, if you play games like once a day, it becomes extremly repetive and boring, which is something I shouldn't really "feel" with Civ game, I know, I could go up to Warlord but the constant DoW are getting so irritating (I like to have the upper hand you know)

So let me ask you this? Is Civ 5 a easily replayable game or does it become repetive after several games?

There is very little flavour in each game, I mean, each victory type becomes the same, there is no other way to get it, I mean, it is stupid to pick up Piety for a Scientific Win, or have a large empire for Cultural Victory. The only major flavour I coudl is remove all City States for a Diplomatic Victory (which even then, the nation to build U.N would automatically become the winner since they get 2x votes).

I like to find out the best strategies per civ to get the most out of it and get good synergy going.
Of course the chosen tech path is dependent on your starting position, but still there's some nice variation possible and it's interesting to think about the best strategy with the civ you play :)

You should really ramp up the difficulty playin it on too easy makes it boring as there is not really any chalenge at all.

Spice it up, try Warlord or OCC. Try different civs and make your strategy use their unique stuff as much as possible. Try new Social Policy trees, etc you wouldn't normally try.

I get bored with games easily and Civ is actually one of the few games I can play over and over and over and... (you get the point)

There's scenarios to play, different Civs to try, different strategies with each to try out, different difficulties (each difficulty makes the game a little different), settings you can tweak...etc.

How you could you possibly get bored!?

Dude, Warlord has almost no DoW's...

Actually, on Chieftain, I've been backstabed WAYY too many times, and I've noticed ever since they tuned something down regarding backstabbing, A.I got really aggressive.

I actually would love to start playing Hotseat with myself but found out you can't denounce each other xD.. no, that's not the reason, I just find it kind bland gameplay.

Play on higher difficulty levels.
Even if you beat Diety (which most never do) it is possible to challenge yourself.

Should more than answer your question about how replayable the game can be.

And yes, seriously, try to bump yourself up to prince at least. I like having the upper hand too, but you'd be much better off improving your gameplay so that you still usually have the upper hand on prince or king, rather than playing at a level where there is no challenge and absolutely no thought necessary, then complaining that it bores you.

Hmm, I might see, I just don't wanna lose quickly, I mean Warlord (or whatever comes after Chieftain) is afterall "Easy"

Listen, this is the perfect website for things like this.
No one should be playing chieftain for too long.
Move up to Warlord, then Prince, then King...
See how far you get.
If you are stuck post your problems here and better players will give you some tips.

CivV is one of the most re-playable games ever.
I have put in 270 hours of gameplay.
This is pretty small compared to other numbers I have seen.

Having the upper hand too often leads to boredom IMO. The name of the game for me is to challenge yourself into doing the not so obvious tactics and seeing if you can pull that off. Also playing with a bad start and making the best of the situation is often more fun for me than playing in a easy start location with abundant resources and promising land to develop. Its okay to lose some games, as long as you understand why you lost them.

If you are having a problem with being declared on too often then most likely you are not producing enough units to show your potential enemies they don't want to tangle with you, or you are not navigating the somewhat wonky diplomacy system deftly.

Try warlord out with one of your favorite civs, you should be able to move up to Prince, and possibly King / Emporer with enough practice. Make it a goal to beat those difficulties and try to play non ideal starts so you can try unconventional strategies.

As others have said, its the lack of challenge thats boring. Chieftain does not offer a challenge to you, so you are becoming bored with it. Go up in difficulty.

Go up in difficulty - learning to win reliably at the next level will keep you plenty busy.
Play on new maps - pangea, archipelago, etc.
Pursue different victory conditions.
Try out different social policy trees.
Play scenarios.

agree with this , you should really only play chieftain once and thats only if you have never played a game like this before. Chieftain just isnt fun in my opinion , killing spearmen with challenger tanks is fun the first time , but a close fun battle on a much higher difficulty is alot more fun.

try this:-
if you win on a level, go up to the next level...
if you lose, go down a level...
in this way you will challenge yourself in many ways...

I find it replayable because I pick different Civs each time. It's nice exploring the possibilities with them.

I would've been playing on Warlord had it not been the strange aggressiveness of A.I.s, anyway, stupid Steam got crazy and I have to re-install the game -.- gonna take a while. thanks guys btw.
