When you think of Ronaldo you think of his silky skill and defender beating prowess. But for quite some time now he has "played" for Inter Milan. Despite being one of the most injury prone players ever he is still one bets players in the world.

But now rumours are afloat of a transfer to that Spanish Royal family backed team Real Madrid......

The price tag €100,000,000........

That is £67,000,000!!!!

The question is: Is Ronaldo Worth It??

Although he is good I don't think one player is actually worth 100,000,000, especially not Ronaldo because of his frequent injuries. For that money you can buy several world-class players that would actually make your team stronger. I think it's better for a team to invest in multiple players to have backup in case of injuries.

I agree with civ1-addict. No player is worth that amount of money. And especially in a time where the prices are falling.

Agreed! Nobody in any sport is worth that much. 3 world class players? Heck, you could sign half a team, including the best defense to stop the sucker who pays that much to Ronaldo. Even if he is never again injured, and is later considered in a class apart with Pele, it's too much money. Boo!

That said, I'm sure any board would gleefully accept the 100000000 for him or anybody else.

Isn't paying so much money for a single player the reason why so many clubs (especially in Spain and Italy) are nearly bankrupt? It's so silly to pay that much money for a player, especially when you know that you will have to pay a lot of salary too!!

I think it's absolutely ridiculous to spend that amount of money on a player who still has to show if he can reach the level of playing he got before he was injured. I mean he wasn't that good during the world championships (my opinion, though probably most people will think otherwise).

Apparently, the Real Madrid chairman thinks he can earn (part of) the transfermoney back by selling half a million Ronaldo shirts and other merchandise in the next few seasons. To achieve this Ronaldo will have to play some good games for Madrid so better hope for his sake that Ronaldo's knee will hold...

I think Kemal is right about the merchandising side for a club. A footballer is now a selling product for a club and his on field performance is only half of what a club pays for. As the worlds best footballing product at the moment Ronaldo could well be worth the 100000000 that Real will pay for him.

I hadn't even thought about it that way! Indeed you see many kids walking around in shirts of their favourite player. I do hope for the Real Madrid chairman the black-market won't start producing too many of those shirts otherwise they won't be selling too many official Ronaldo shirts. ;)

Even if they sold loads of shirts its still too much for one player and no club is likely to pay that much any more as the top clubs seem to already be in a lot of trouble. Also they may sell lots of Ronaldo shirts but they will probably sell less shirts for other players.

They don't actually pay the money all in one go. It is done over several years. So this sort of transfer fee can be affordable, especially to clubs like Real Madrid.

And he is no way worth that amount of money.

Without his injuries last years (maybe) he should be worth €100.000.000.
In his years playing for PSV and Barcelona he was the best player in known space :P.

This season will be the season of Ronaldo I hope. (Me as Inter-fan)

it would be interesting if the transfer did happen for €100,000,000 as there will be a lot of stress on ronaldo to peform and also if inter had all this cash given to them they could assembly an even better team than they have at the moment :D
