Is the SNES Civilization game Civ1?

Yes. In fact, it might have better stability on SNES than on PC. I remember first getting into Civ because I rented an interesting looking game from Hollywood Video for SNES called Civilization....

It's the same game but some things are slightly different. In Civ1 for SNES - as far as I know - there is no GO-TO option available, so you have to manually walk your units to their destination. The resolution is a also lower due to the SNES connecting to a tv set. But the SNES version is much prettier graphically.
