ALl I want to know is what the sun does to swamp because I am playin a game that dosn't let you chop down swamps! (jungles and forests you can clear just not swamp!!! :mad: )

SO a list that says what tile turns to what from the effexct of Global warming would be appreciated please n thanks

Grass - Plains
Plains - Desert
Swamp - Coast? I'm not sure about that. I'm also not sure about what happens to jungle, tundra and forest.

Forest on tile will become tile without forest.
So a grassland forest will become grassland, and a plains forest will become plains.

I'd assume the same counts for swamp and jungle (base terrain is always grass for both) but I don't know.

is that a variant? why can't you clear swamp?

Yes sorry, I should have specified. This It is a mod Im playin. (MEM- played on random mode to be specific :) )

@Civinator + Everyone: Thank you for your kind feedback on this matter Im much in dept to you all!

THings I hope to see in some way, some day! : Mybe swamp can be improved later in game under teraforming reseach then you could eventually progress to sanding/building up the coast or add irrigation to desert to population boom like those crazy Dubai guys make those river suburbs :

ANyway nuff from thanks to thee

Once I had a forested plains tile turn into dessert but still keep the forest. It might have been a bug though.

Swamp definitely turns into a water tile, I'm almost 100% sure about that. However, because you're running a mod, this may not be true. But in the unmodded civ 3 complete game the tiles degenerate like this:

Swamps -> Water Tile
Grassland -> Plains -> Desert

Forest tiles like a forest on grassland, will eliminate the forest but will not affect the tile itself until/if the tile gets degenerated again. As Turner once said, forests can be a sort of "shield" against global warming.

Also note that desert tiles can appear on coast. This is what I mean:

Water tile (I think it's always coast) -> Desert tile.

EDIT: I'm not sure what happens to jungles, mountains and hills though. But I'm pretty sure those tiles won't get effected by global warming.

That's cool! So free land comes out of Global Warming?! And swamps can turn into lakes? That's very useful if you play it out right.

Now I feel like creating a disappearing tile game. The world is a bunch of island swamps surrounded by water. There is a thin isthmus that reaches your opponents. If you're too slow, you'll be cut off until after Map Making. Bwahahahaha!

Oh, and do you lose units that were on a globally warmed marsh if they can't swim (none of them can)? Or do they stay there in the water until you move them out?

Yep. Except you need a LOT of pollution if you want water tiles turning into desert.

Wow, you have some good creativity! It sounds like an interesting map.

Not sure about that one. Maybe you should (Or someone else should) test it. Make lots of swamp, put a troop on every swamp tile, and launch many nukes. Wait for about 30 turns, and if no swamp tiles turn into water, then troops can't drown. If some swamp tiles do turn into water, then it is possible to drown troops! :)
