Is there a way to rename civs?

I'm playing a game right now with against 3 Bannor AI, and I'm running into the problem that one will ask me to "declare war against the Bannor" or some such, and I have no idea which of the other Bannor they're talking about. I know you can modify your own civ's name, etc, with the "my details" thing, but is there a way to do that for AI civs, via the worldbuilder or somesuch?

I don't think there is a way, but I really wish there were.

I know that in some mods you can elect an option making it always display both the civ and leader names together though.

Accept and see if it's the Bannor you want to declare war on? If it isn't, just reload.

Edit: You can also check out their relations against each other and figure things out from there.

Yeah, its the same in regular Civ. I love custom maps with loads of civs, and the two Chinese leaders aren't expansionistic enough for my taste, so I like to have both to get a big, divided Chinese empire going on. Hilarity ensues.

You can start 'hot seat' MP game, rename all the civs whatever you wish, and then 'retire' all leaders but your chosen one. Should work, yet i've never tried it. And, of course, it works only when you start a new game...
MP game with all (but yours) leaders taken over by AI is a SP game in fact. Yet you will not be able to use WorldBuilder.

We JonathanStrangeans would welcome being able to rename enemy civs!!

It reminds me of when I was a young civfanatic during the dark age (though some called it "golden") of Civ 1 where one could rename other civs' cities just by clicking on it and changing Berlin to Stinktown or vice versa.

why do you play with so many civs anyways ? Just play with the max number of civs and you won't have 2 civs the same.

Because sometimes I want to play a game with all civs having the same flavor for thematic reasons. I usually run about 10-13 civs in a game, and sometimes like to play civil war type scenarios with multiple factions of the same civilization.

Also, it's a slight annoyance for me that all three name entries for all the civs (Civ Description, Short Description, and Civ Adjective) are the same in FFH. If I live in "Italy", our leader would be the leader of "The Italians," not "The Italy." Our infantry would be "Italian infantry," not "Italy Infantry."

Vanilla Civ differentiates between the three, but for whatever reason, FFH doesn't. Being able to rename civs would not only allow me to address the multiple factions of same civ issue, it'd let me address that personal pet peeve, too.

Once you get 20+ civs in a game, things get problematic :P

Yes, I suppose that would make things problematic. However, as I stated in the post right above yours, that's not applicable to why I'm asking the question. ;)
