Is there a way, when you're playing the game...

...to find out what your leader's preferred civic is? (I haven't seen any buttons or mouse over functions revealing this info. Is there any?)

Move your mouse over your flag on the bottom of the screen to show what your traits are, if that helps at all.

Hmmm... well the only way I've found to identify my leader's favorite civic while playing the game is to look it up in manual! Is that everyone else's experience? Or do you just sort of ignore it?

It really doesn't matter your own, it's just the civic that countries will ask you to convert to and then you get the "You have wisely chosen your civics" bonus.

I usually do! However, I notice a lot of modders are giving real thought to assigning appropriate favorite civics to their leaders. But if there's no way to know what civic it is then I guess there's no reason to bother...

It's not really important when the player is playing the Leader, but it can be when the AI is.

The best way is to install the Exotic Foreign Advisor Mod component (http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?ou startt=146687) by Requies. It's just a component so it does not need to be loaded every time you start Civ.
