Game is on Warlord difficulty - Vanilla Civ III v1.29f

Its 2014 and I'm building the UN but the Greeks will build before I will and my research is very low so having to go for gold (not much of that available either). I bought Fission from the Greeks and traded it for Rocketry and Amphibious War but wont have enough cash for the rest of the techs for space race.

I just had a look, you have all your cities very close and rather small. Your biggest problem as i would look at it is your small population 9.8 million. That should have been atleast Double to generate more taxes for science.
The Greeks dont look too strong if your economy can handle it you could attack them maybe sneak up on Athens to take out their wonder building if you want the UN.

The Greeks are tech leaders and have Mech Infantry. I have some tanks but I think it would be a slaughter of my armies to be honest :(

I tried to invade in the past but that mountain pass is a formidable defence against any attacker. The Greeks have never got past my defence and I've never gone far past theirs.

I have lots of small cities because I have about 70% tundra. Even with a forest the max pop is 2 there so may as well make them densely packed to work all the tiles.

I think I left it too late though for anything decisive to happen. Maybe the vote might get me a win since all my enemies are dead and I'm amicable with everyone else just about.

Athens will finish the UN in 10 turns, so no sense in your building it. No sense in making a settler either. Why are you giving Alex 256gpt? Add the 158gpt for unit support and you are pretty much broke.

The good news is that maybe Alex will call for a vote. I doubt it though. In about 7 turns I would start making gifts to all the others. I would break the deal with Alex, maybe he will declare on you. It won't matter.

If he does try to bribe as many as you can into the war. If you need to set slider to all tax. Sell of as many things as you need to raise money and lower expenses.

I would stop all builds that cannot be done in a few turns. Go to wealth for bribes. You cannot get a space before the game ends, so no need to research that stuff. The game will end at 2050, if no vote.

That is a nasty start location. Once you saw what it was you should pack towns close to get as many down as you can.

Do not research Demo, you will have to war when you are on a ice island to get more land. That means Monarch or Republic.

Be smarter with your town builds. I see size 1 towns making temples in 2013ad. I see size 2 with lib and making a market and you are doing zero research. Sell that stuff now.

Aye...that was my first game after some years away from Civ so I had a bad start loc and lots of dumb decisions along the way to contend with :)

Oh well, lessons learnt as they say. My huge gpt was my debt for buying Fission since he wouldnt go any lower for it.

I might try an earlier save to see if things could have gone differently...

First I think you can win, if he calls for a vote. Second, don't pay that much for a tech and in fact don't buy techs form the leader. You just make it easier for him to stay the leader by pay for his research.

Better to use the money to steal or fight.
