i'll probably post this under strategy too, but not sure if it's a bug or what. after 'accidently' breaking a treaty early in the game, i never bothered signing pact, embargo, alliance since. have been asked many times to ally, but changed the subject to trade or never agreed. this is only monarch level,i'm in 3rd place, just developed planes, and have not been attacked ONCE. all other civs have been going at it. smooth sailing for me...

I guess Isolationism can work for certain civs (Scientific, Inudstrial), but I got stomped into a mud puddle because other civs gingerly traded technologies, used traded resources like silks and wines to keep happiness, and used wonders that affected trade and technology to get the edge. Besides... its fun to watch your neighbors go to war right along your borders... very entertaining.

and i'm the zulus (mil, expan i think) and i've been doing GREAT trading where i can pretty much keep my entertainment rate at 0. i've started off in 'ivory' land where i've been able to trade almost every civ (started with 10 extra ivory!!). it's where u start making pacts and embargos where u get drawn into conflicts. llike i said, i've been able to trade my arse off without getting into ANY conflicts and it just turned modern era. that's 3 ERAS without any war for me!! (and i started off breaking my first treaty).
