In the civilopedia, it says that JS Bach's decreases the number of unhappy citizens by two for each friendly city on the continent. I've tried experimenting with this, and it seems that it really decreases it by two in all of your own cities whether they be on the same continent or not. Also it doesn't seem to help your allies even though I would consider their cities 'friendly'? Could someone confirm or deny this?

The civlopedia is full of errors.

It works for all of YOUR cities regardless of location.Just yours.Hoover Dam has a similiar civlopedia description but it also works for all of yur cities regardless of location.

The J.S.Bach Cathedral isn't one of the priorities in my Civ games. I build it if I can, but if there is something better to build I do that.

J S Bach is a must in my 20% lux Democracies. This wonder usually comes along right when my major cities are say size 9 or 1o and this wonder puts me into "WE LOVE PESDNT" days!!!!!!!!and yes i have noticed that it works in all me' cities mates!!!!!!!11

I had noticed that about J. S. as well.

Personally I find the combination of Mike's Chapel and J. S. to be a must. This allows me to pacify the masses with little or no luxuries. I often forgo the we love the X day if I can and then pump everything into taxes and science, allowing me to fund an advanced army.

Hey, that's good to know about the Hoover Dam. I've spent quite a bit of time analzying which of my many continents to build it on to max out it's effectiveness

J.S. Bach's Cathedral decreases two unhappy people per ALL cities! That's good to know. Many times I've seen one source say 'per continent' and another say 'all cities'.

Yeah but does it reduces unhappy people in other tribes (friendly tribes) also???

If you play above King level, Bach's becomes more of a consideration.
Not that it's not excellent at all levels, but the higher the level the more noteworthy it becomes.

No. J.S. and Hoover Dam only work for your cities.

It seems like they didn't update some of the Civilopedia entries from the previous edition of Civilization. In the original Civ, wonders like JS and Hoover Dam applied to just the continent it was built on, rather than the civ as a whole like in Civ II.

If you play at higher difficulty levels (esp. Deity), JS Bach is very valuable... I place it #2, just behind Michelangelo's. No wonder or improvement can duplicate it's effects (except Shakespeare, which goes beyond just 2 citizens), and it allows a massive Republic/Democracy army in the field.
