JOE-03 - Xenophobia

I'm in, sounds interesting...

Maybe we could make it harder and not trade techs...

Maybe we could make it harder and not trade techs...

I'm open to ideas. I've also decided to make this a concurrent SG after seeing the concept and liking the idea. It'd also make it easier if we don't trade techs as we can pick the best save from each turn.

I've edited the game description to reflect this.

Since you're first, you can be leader of the second team!

It's pretty simple. Can't remember who made the first concurrent game, but ChrTh (old-timer here) has created one as well I think, and the idea seems to be gaining popularity.

It onvolves more play and basically works like this. The first team of three all play 30 turns from 4000BC, and post the saves. We all decide which is the best, and team 2 all play from that save. Team 1 then plays from Team 2's best save and so on.

It makes for much more discussion, deciding which is the best save (usually comes to a vote), and is also good for learning because it's easier to see where you went wrong compared to the other saves (assuming yours isn't the best).

Another point is that you have to be pretty strict with the timings. A time is usually set for posting saves (usually a 24 hour period). This is to prevent one player playing very early, the others reading the report and playing their turns to better it. The idea is every member of a team plays with the same knowledge and posts their saves and reports at roughly the same time for examination by both teams. You usually need more detailed turn reports as after all, you're trying to convince the other players that your turnet is the best.

For example, the first turns would be played, but a strict turn report date of the 25th of April would be set. Anybody missing this deadline would not have their save looked at for fear of spoiler cheating.

Oh yah - I think the concurrent SG is an awesome idea. It might be a bit of a pain for me to get the timing right of when to play/post but I'll do my best.

Im up for the task , count me in.
Is tech trading off or we simply cant trade techs?
Cause im sure if tech trading is off , the other civs cant demand any techs from us. Is this rule the same for both , can we get techs by demanding them from AI's?
It sounds a bit hard to memorize what my notes where all about if i perhaps gotta wait 24h after playing the turns to post them but il do my best.
I take it we will have some discussion before every turnset on the long term plans as well?

Small note : Since this is large and continents make sure you'r computer will be able to run this in the late game.

Sorry chaps...I've got to cancel this (didn't seem to be getting enough interest anyway). My physiotherapy is getting more intense now and leaving me in a fair amount of pain...all I want to do is sleep at the moment, so CIV is going to have to take a backseat until the physio eases off.

Sorry.

For those who aren't aware, I was in a car accident a little while back and did some damage to my legs, just in case you're wondering why I'm having physio.
