Julius Caeser - CIV 6 Deity

Does anyone else find him to be really difficult to get going without the optimal start conditions? I find him to be generally MUCH weaker than Trajan's Rome. What experiences does everyone else have? I often find the AI has at least Men-At-Arms by the time I have a sizable number of legions UNLESS I'm absolutely swarmed with barbs.

I haven't played as Caesar a lot, but I do agree that Trajan has a much better start.

Not only is a monument preferable for me in the early game than the gold, but you also get it instantly when you found a city. You get extra culture right away, and you don't have to kill barbarian camps to do it.
