Umm, what kind of drive is the old one? Drive types must match the adapter, if not bizarre stuff will happen.

Sorry, but this caught my attention.

Its impossible to plug a SATA drive into an IDE cable, and vice versa, simple because, well, its impossible.

Same goes for SCSI or SAS, they have different shapes.

I sent it back and got my money back

In the end I spent £20 getting the most basic computer possible that will run windows XP an the net, im happy, and i'll jus throw it out when it starts going wrong.
