I just got Civ4 Complete at Gamersgate.com, installed it, and everything seemed to work fine. I ran first vanilla Civ4, entered the options, and changed a few game options, plus turned off Full Screen mode and set the resolution to 1280x800 (or something like that). Everything appeared fine, so I exited the game, then realized I had started vanilla, so I started BTS, entered game options, and did the same, then exited. I didn't play or even look at the New Game button. Now when I try running it, I get to Init XML (cached) and it crashes, with just the standard Windows "This application has unexpectedly quit" dialog box.
I've tried changing fullscreen in the config file, first to Ask (then trying both Yes and No when it asks), then to 1, all with the same result.
I've seen some posts suggesting that I clear my cache, but there is no cache folder in My Documents/My Games/Civilization 4 Complete and /Beyond the Sword, and there's no My Games or any Civ-related folder in the Application Data for either my user name or All Users.
Any ideas for what I can do?
EDIT: My system stats:
Windows XP Service Pack 2
Intel Core 2 Duo @ 2.4 Ghz
2 GB Ram
NVIDIA GeForce 8600M GT 512MB
Can You Run It says I should run it fine, I exceed the Recommended by quite a bit.
