Just started playing CIv I again....

Heya, Ive just got Civilization I again and am remembering how it works Just wondering...can you buy city improveents and get them finished quicker? If so how.

Yes, on the city screen there is a buy button (see screenshot) or you can hit "b." IIRC, the cost is 2 gold per shield; 4 gold if it's just being started.

i thought it looked different, i think i must have a different version or something and didnt notice cos Ive not played for so long....there was definitely not a button like that....
ill try hitting 'b' and see if it works tnx. otherwise ill look for the other version.

You might have the "hi-res" windows/mac version where the layout of the screen is somewhat different. According to my manual, there is no "buy" button on that but instead there's a "Rush Job" option on one of the menus and the "b" key should still work...
