I was wondering if anybody could help me with this issue I'm having with my wireless network. Every time I log off in Windows 7 my wireless program stops and disconnects my computer from the network. Normally this wouldn't be a problem but I'm trying to connect to my PC Remotely, and it won't allow me to connect to the wireless router until I login, but if I am already logged in the Remote Desktop Program must log me off before I can log back in for a remote session, which removes the wireless connection.

So does anyone know how I can keep the network program running no matter if I happen to be logged in or not?

If it helps I'm using a D-Link Wireless G DWA-510 Desktop Adapter, and poking around in google searches nor the configuration of the adapter shows any sign of something I can configure to always remain on

You need to tell Windows to manage your wireless network, instead of the third party software. I don't remember how to find where to adjust this, but if nobody posts it until then, i'll find it when I get back home.

You need to enable wake on line on your NIC and in your bios (the description of the feature varies). In the bios it's usually in the power management section. On your NIC, look through the properties on your network card.

I thought that only worked for the LAN port?

That is indeed correct. WoL only works on wired LAN, not wireless (WoL is pretty simple to implement for ethernet but for wireless it would be near impossible)

Well I have managed to resolve the problem (turns out the wireless profile must be set to all users rather then just my current user). Thanks for all your help, everyone
