Hi guys, I just wanted to share with you a game of mine going now.
It's a Deity standard 60% archipelago world, warm, wet 5 billion.

I'm the Celts, and I've preselected my 4 opponents for Zululand, Mongols, Portugal and England.

The reason to be excited is the way it goes so far. It's in 250BC, I'm first in all categories (culture, territory, points about 1350 with second Zululand at 1000).

I've just handbuilt the Pyramids on my private island of about 20 cities, am sure that I can get another AA wonder going in the capital (depends on the cascade, I'm 2 turns away from the Halicarnassus) and have a prebuild for Sun Tzu. We've just entered the MA, I'm in GA, I'm confident. If I manage to add Leo, fear me AI!

Became Monarchy in 1300 BC or the like, after a Philosophy slingshot. This was the first time I made it on deity to get a govt tech for free.

Some details on this lucky game of mine.

I started with a cow and deer in range, quickly found another cow and the capital and the second city pulled settlers like mad. I hadn't alphabet in the starting techs, researched it at 50 turns rate and then writing at max. The Zulus beat me to it, but I was able to buy it and trade it around. Then philo, trading for Poly and picking Monarchy.

I had all the contacts quite early, and what do you know, the AI has 2 continents with 2 civs on each, who were fighting for at least 2000 years. I was middleman for quite a while, and the AI was crippling its expansion. The Zulus beat up badly England, while Portugal was toying with the Mongols.

I saw in 2000BC that the only wonder being built was the Pyramids in a threatened city of England... I was already able to dedicate one on this so it came in a few turns ago... The first time I build an AA wonder on Deity, except a all or nothing run on TGL.

I was over the unit limit, half of them workers, but I still decided to take it to Zululand who had finally signed peace with poor Elisabeth playing 5CC. She'll catch up, there's a lot of place for expansion.

When I landed 10 gallics, I was able to raze 2 first ring Zulu cities and the capital. That's where I'm right now, having just signed MA with Portugal (they've met Zululand with a curragh) and England (she got used to fight Shaka, old habits never die).

I'll post a few pics later if anyone is interested, but I think that this game is going to be a big personnal pleasure for me and it's going really well. I think that it deserves to become a histographic win and if I don't do major stupid stuff (this time I'm keeping many saves, about 10 for the first 100 turns), it can be quite nicey one.

I called the thread "Lifetime" because my Civ time is quite limited now, being stolen on my girlfriend's PC, and you know how the average GF takes Civ... At least from my own experience, you can't expect them to stay calm in the corner while you finish Shaka off... So anyways, this game gets another hour or something added a day, so it will certainly take a long time. I hope it doesn't pass over 100h, because this is my personal limit of a game. If I ever pass over, I'm done with Civ3. Or had I said done with any Civ??? That would be cruel, I must check. I must have been drunk. Anyways, better safe than sorry, no more than 100h of gameplay.

Be back with pictures if someone is interested.

Sorry for not posting for so long here, but I barely had the time to play. I'm doing quite well, chose Leos instead of Sun Tzu and upgraded some 50 horses to knights. Then bite the Zulus and Portugal, the English and Mongols are there until I start researching and then will go poof.

The current turn is about 240. Just became industrial with Portugal and finished a tough war with them. Actually 30 turns ago I was forced to beg for peace while even abandonning cities, that I eventually rebuilt. Steam is due in 5, I'm a republic rulling over 40% of the land and 60% of the population. I own Leos, Bachs and 3 turns from Smiths. This is the highest level wonder addiction I've ever done.

I had to sign peace with portugal as my WW doubled the unhapiness I had, I control 7 lux. Wondering if I go communism when I can...

With the good amount of cavs I have I'll probably bite the Zulus again. The RNG had no pity, I've got a leader around 100 turns ago against the zulus, just to lose this knight army with 5HP against a LB. And with HE, with hundreds of victories and so on I've not seen another. Just so you know, in the beginning of the portoguese war I faced a stack of about 70 MDI covered with muskets and backed with cavs. So the occasions for leader were there.

So now Portugal (industrial with me, no techs known) has lost it's salpeter, in war with my former allies... I'm optimistic... The score is about 5000, I don't know if I can pull something good out of it.

Gotta go to work. Will try to post some pics tonight.

Cheers to all...

PS: 25H of gameplay so far... or something like that..

So it’s done. I’ve just finished this game. Guess what. Remember what I had said in the update tread? I had forecasted about 22K score. Well the game heard me, but without the about. I’ve submitted this game at 2050, with the precise 22000 score! Hope it passes, I like a lot the way it sounds.
So, a few words. Here’s my start. The Celts, conveniently named Bulgarians in this game, even if the HoF server doesn’t accept changes like this, can finally settle. I’m not using any MapFinder or the like tools, so this is a normal ingame start.

When I move down I discover a deer, plus another cow a bit further away. This gave me 2 4 turn factories. The game is with less opponents as said before, there are only 4 of them, as required by the HoF.
A pic in 975BC shows the effect of the factories. I’m already up in score, and as I said, the AIs are fighting 2 by 2.
I knew them already. On the left side of the ring, read west, we present the Mongols losing the battle with the Portuguese. On the right side, the east, the Zulus are beating Betty very unkindly.

My settler factories were Entremont and Alesia. I soon got my iron connected and landed a bunch of Gallics in Zululand, razing Zimbabwe and a few core cities; this hurted the Zulus well. I wasn’t able to reclaim the territory so this stayed as a punishment. I had became a king in 1250BC, having bought Polytheism just before getting Philosophy. This gave me good boost, as well as the AIs fighting. I soon had my economy up and started colonising the islands around me.
As years passed, the AIs signed peace for a while but I started pushing them. The nearby Zulus were the first to be attacked, and as you can see, I was razing and replacing in the east and in the west.

I had just gotten Leos and was upgrading my armies. I had a lot of happiness problems because the island in the west, the one the Mongols and Portuguese are on, where I had stolen 2 luxes, needed to be connected through sea and the Portuguese had the Lighthouse. When I was in peace with them, somehow the link was missing… So I held with 2 continents with 2 lux each until Astronomy that I got in 940AD (I know, quite late). This was tough especially as I went for republic in 740AD.

This is when I seriously started pounding the AI. The Zulus have reduced England to non player, as have the Portuguese with the Mongols. They have finished them eventually later. I was oscillatory warring with both of them, and I’ve managed to capture Portugal’s salpeter quite fast after they got Military Tradition. It was easy after, finishing Zululand and Portugal, who got rid of Mongolia for me, and isolating Betty in the frozen mountains.
This all ended after 347 turns of gameplay:

I changed government again (one of the major reasons to go for a religious civ, I haven’t played one for years and it’s nice to revolt in 2 turns). I picked Communism to maximize the effect of the hapiness slider set at 90-100%. Used the production to build market, hospital, courthouse and trading dock in every city, giving most of them Police Stations too. I didn't went ICS that would have probably improved my score... I was underefficient, could have yielded more points but I'm quite happy with what I got.
So the final results:

Check all the wonders I got. I cant believe its deity.
This can be the best Standard score. I hope there will be no problems.
Thanks for reading this. See you soon.

PS the game took me 55 hours... I can proceed with CIV :D

Only if I have some 500 free hours :D

The game has been accepted! Great! Thanks SuperSlug :D

BTW pentium, what's the story with the "Avatar from that guy"? Is mistfit charging everyone to note in his signature the stuff about the stupid SoD not to be underestimated or it's someone else? I must check the forums to find this out, but it has become quite popular lately...

When I came here, I was quite annoyed by that "Avatar by Mistfit", "Thanks to Mistfit for my new avatar" and so on in people's sigs.

I made myself a little nice avatar (you may remember it from original 1000 Civ4 clues) and claimed this one is the best and I'll never change it.

But Mistfit made one for me (in the K.I.S.S. forum), the theme was the same, he only made it brighter, clearer and more modern.

I liked his better and I took it. I didn't want to put Mistfit in my signature, so I put what you see now.

How do you know it was me personally? :mischief:

Pentium, I can understand your complaints about Mistfit's constant sig references. They used to annoy me too until he made one for me (which incidentally is my first custom avatar anywhere on the Internet).

It's funny, I'm not sure what Mistfit should receive more credit for, his avatar services, or being on the HOF staff. He ran the Hall of Fame by himself last week, since Dianthus is still on vacation and I was gone. I'm not sure it showed publically that Mistfit was going solo, which is probably a credit to how well he subbed for us.:goodjob:

I saw you online, and thought - he won't be able to hold checking a submission including Temujin's extinction...
