Hello everyone,
I am playing kandros Fir (Khazad) on imortal standard map, 6AI raging barb, AI no building requirements, AI no minimum level. I thought i'd start a thread to share my experiances and have some discussions about it.

I had a nice start, finding myself on a river with wine and gold, there was an oasis and yagrisil(or however you spell it) in the BFC as well. I decided to skip agriculture etc(as i had a couple of 3-foot tiles from Yagrisil fruit and the oasis), and went for a more unconventional mining as my first research path. I built a few wariors to allow for my city to expand to 3, and then a worker, which was ready just before mining.

meanwhile one of my wariors discovered bannor to the west, and DOWd for a worker steal which eventually made it back to my city. I was producing non-stop wariors at high speed (1-2 turns) in my capital, though most of them died thanks to 3 godly spiders and some hill giants. I even lost some of my nicely promoted units.

My city was on the way to getting good commerse, so i furthur delayed the basic techs and went for Ainchient chants and Mysticism in order to get god king for my sweet capital.

I settled my 2nd city south, collecting another gold, with potential for cows, and die in the BFC. 3rd city had its desired spot snatched away thanks to perpentech who was to the south. so i settled in a sub-optimal position in terms of resources, with limited food beyong the cows grass wine(+1 food) and copper in the BFC, with only 2 grass and the rest plains this would be limited by food, though was in a good strategic position on a hill blocking a passage,

I explored a grassland dungeon right next to my 2nd city, and to my supprise it proguced gold, awsome, a 2-gold city will help a lot!

I was mainly building wariors as i didnt have any other building option, though the unit upkeep was troubling me a bit. i was trying to rush the basic techs, so my gold reserves were empty, luckily i could still keep my people happy in size 6 cities.

I finally went for exploration, agriculture and animal husbandry to get some food in my 2nd and 3rd cities, and then straight onto way of the earth mother, as i am planning on a RoK push. I wanted to get to ROK first, and know that at imortal the AI can get there very fast, so this took priority over my other resources (calander) and education etc. following this i went for incence to make use of the incence in my capital BFC.

with no buildings to build(beyond the already built council, and useless pagan temple), and wanting my semi-low food cities to grow, i was mainly stuck building wariors. my plan was to put my capital to work on spamming RoK everywhere while everyone was still out of a religion.

I put a specialist to work in my capital, missing out on some serious

I rushed a settler with chopping, and putting all tiles on food/production, while missing out on a few awsome tiles (such as incence). this made it to a nice distant spot with river, corn, cotton, and sugar, i settled in the exact turn before Capria got there, phew it was worth the lost commerce rushing the settler.

research went into education, and is now on writing. i want to get some libraries to boost my research. my vaults are still totally empty, i'm suffering the unhappieness for the time being so that i can get education and writing in place, allowing me to then recover the vaults while my libraries will be building.

I'm just building my RoK temple in the production powerhouse capital to start my religious efforts.

at turn 80 i am ahead with GDP, though far behind in power.
all opponents next to me have 5+ axemen in their cities (thanks to no AI building requirements), while i have 4 cities wach with 2 wariors. a good income and decent resources. there is still another settler location on a pernintular cut off from my teritory that has fur, though i need to first tend to my vaults, research etc before expanting furthur.

I'm wight at the bottom of the power chart, probably looking quite juicy. though i think i'm going to risk it and work on pumping out RoK priests to make some friends, and maybe go for CoL to enable me to expand furthur.

then my next step in my plan will be to either go for trading, and try and broker some tech (i need bronze working etc, my wariors are getting scared looking at all those scarey highly promoted enemy axemen), or otherwise try to push straight for bronze working and smelting to bring my soldiers up on par with the opponents. I'd also like currancy, taxation, and Arete in sometime to boost my economy and prod, with Khazad i figured you need a solid economy to keep growing the vaults faster than you expand, and to pay for countless upgrades. Though i figure it's probably safer to first fix up the military tec.

then i'm considering to go for either construction for trebs, or engineering for battering rams, enabling me to make my attack. they are quite different paths, with construction not leading anywhere after i already have bronze, going for engineering might also be good long-run to get cannons, though i think i'll just go trebs.

i'll also see if i can slot in some adepts, yes khazad are limited to T1 spells, though the buffs can be useful. i like metamagic but that wont be available, so it's either go for hte buffs, or earth to boost the druid afinity in the late game. druids are a bit off-research path, as i'm focusing on meele line, and druids need comune with nature, and groves(animal handeling), thus meaning a divergence down both religious path and recon path to get druids. My choice of RoK also limits me from shadows.

so here i am, with a weak army, empty vaults, though 4 good cities, & strong economy. starting to work on Rok priests, which will hopefully bring in the cash.
I expect my weak army of wariors will be rushed sometime soon, so hopefully i'll have bronze working, smealting, and some cash in the vaults for a quick upgrade. with the extra 20% def it should let me turtle in till i can get on par with them with smealting and trebs, and then it's time to strike.

I'll include screenies soon (i have civ on my home comp)

Good luck. The bonuses are so huge, I can't see why anyone would play Khazad and let the vaults get empty. Also, if you have some farms the useless pagan temple probably could have gotten you RoK sooner.
