I was just wondering if they used any kind of historical context in making the Colossus wonder improve commerce. Did the colossus actually improve commerce, or did the game just use it as a symbol? If so, would there be something else that improved commerce in Ancient Times that they could have used?

I also noticed this with the Pyramids.

Any thoughts on this rather dumb topic?

Did Sun Tzu's give a barracks to every city on the continent? Did Magellan voyage allow ships to go faster?

All part of gameplay balance.

Yeah, I suppose they just couldn't come up with the medieval monument: Something That Made Ships Go Faster In The Early 1500s: 375 shields!!!

Well, the Colossus of Rhodes was built in front of a busy port... ports mean trade, so the Colossus signifies the inportance of the coastal city where it is built.

Sure. Sun Tzu guide's allows commanders and troops how to fight better, and magellan provides citrical knowlegde into navigation, allowing for better naval travel.

I just watched this on the History Channei tonight, it did improve commerce. Even thougt it fell down after 56 or 54 years people came to look at it for the next 600 years until 280AD when it was sold for scrap metal.

Coincedentally, that was the show that kind of made me think of this in the first place...

Thanks for your help.
