lastchance's Wonder Summary

Dammit.

Pentagon is useful, but I am a firm believer in city specialization, so I only pump military units from 4-5 of my towns, and it's expensive.

And now, I realize I find it very easy to believe how Kremlin could be abusive for rushing wonders, factories, etc... But I just don't know how prevalent the conditions are for Kremlin to be abusive (tons of cash, not enough factory).

A couple of comments as I read along the thread:

lastchance>
Chichen Itza: This criticism seems unusually unthoughtful. 500's + code of laws is a pretty reasonable price for a wonder, especially since I'm pretty sure that the +25% to defense is on top of the leading defense modifier. With 95% defense in cities from the ancient through the early gunpowder era, I think the wonder has definate potential for certain game plans.

Broadway, Hollywood, Rock&Roll: It's worth mentioning that these are less valuable than the Eiffel Tower because they come so much later than it does.

Space Elevator: It's most certainly not *neccessary* to any given spaceship win. +50% production rate is almost nothing if your cities generally already have +150% from civics/forges/factories/power/labs. It's a definate speedbump that's not worthwhile if robotics is late in your tech progression relative to the spaceship. On the plus side, it accepts great engineers.

Internet: Where is it? You're not going to mention the worst wonder in the game? :)

Eiffel Tower: It's worth noting that the eiffel tower grants broadcast towers even if you don't have the tech to build them ordinarily (which is handy, given that mass media isn't required for spaceship).

I agree, I often go for space and haven't bothered with it, it just comes too late. By the time I get to robotics my spaceship is half built and while the later parts can take a few turns to finish, I don't see that pausing to build the wonder is worth it.

As for Chicken Pizza, I'd rank it as a middling wonder, useful if you think you are going to be attacked a lot and aren't planning to go warmongering yourself, but not one to to go for broke on.

Still thanks to the OP, for the article, the info is useful to have in one place even if I don't agree with all your conclusions :) .

Kremlin is very useful in many situation, but I don't think you can rush wonders with money

It can be very abusive... I usually go for Domination wins on Huge Terra maps, and it's amazing how fast I can populate the new continent with it. I go for Kremlin first, then I am able to rush every wonder from that point on. By that stage I'm generating about 1000 gold/turn with 30% gold - so I can make the new continent grow very quickly.

With it, I was actually able to get a small increase on my "Score if you win this turn" over a long time. I remember seeing my score at 3500-4000 when I would've had 16750, but finished at 5500 and got 17200 about 35-50 turns later.

You can rush anything but the Team Projects (spaceship stuff).
